Jeanne Sterkers
Jeanne Sterkers is a promising author who is making her way with elegance. Her artistic vocation was already evident in her early childhood. Curious by nature and endowed with an overflowing creativity, she set her sights on illustration at the end of secondary school, discovering drawing blogs and forums that stimulated her, enabled her to develop her technique and communicate with enthusiasts like herself. She is methodical and meticulous, advancing step by step. Her encounters with illustrators were to be decisive in her school career. In 2005, she was selected for the prestigious school comic book competition organised by the Angoulême comic book festival. Her studies take her away from her life in Quimper... Direction Paris where she joins the famous art school Estienne to take her DMA and DSAA diplomas in scientific illustration. In appearance colourful, her work combines subtlety, singularity and mastery. Jeanne Sterkers, reveals her sunny universe by revisiting cult scenes from musicals from the four corners of the world. Her triptych is a cultural journey that crosses and transgresses all borders and tells the story of an era, of a society whether it be Asian, Indian or Western. She subtly paints these bodies in motion and the diversity of this practice with bright, luminous colours and meticulous details. With a great sense of observation, altruistic and joyful, Jeanne plays with our emotions and revives distant memories. A desire to (re)-discover her masterpieces whose cultural themes still resonate today in our society, she captures sublimating this fabulous cognitive, motor and sensory experience that speaks to us all.
